Double-digit growth for U.S Sales of LFDs last year IT/PC and Pro AV Distributors. Unit sales and revenues of professional flat panel models rose 30% in 2015 over the prior year.
A shift to larger screen sizes in the professional display market, particularly in the second-half of the year, was the single largest factor driving increased revenues. At the end of 2014, revenues from +60-inch professional models comprised 32% of total revenues. By year-end 2015, these larger-sized models jumped to 48% of total revenues.
Many of the industry’s key market segments also posted strong volume gains during the full-year 2015.
• Slim-bezel displays (less than 10mm bezel-to-bezel) grew by 16% in 2015 versus 2014. The increased popularity of video wall applications is fuelling the growth of narrow-bezel models.
• Sales of professional models warranted for use 24/7 surged 74% in 2015 compared with 2014. These models are typically used in digital signage applications.
• Touch-enabled displays, though still a very small percentage of the total volume, rose by 28% in 2015 thanks to retail and wayfinding applications.
The strong growth trend appears to be continuing in 2016 as units and revenues were up 35% and 42%, respectively, in January 2016 from the prior January. Each of the key market segments also posted healthy double-digit comparisons vs. last January.
