While at ISE we checked out Kramer’s VIA Collage. The new firmware (v1.6) adds some cool new features. iOS mirroring, for example, uses the integrated Airplay receiver, to let users show content from any iOS device on a main display. “Everything you do on your Apple iOS device is wirelessly mirrored on the main display. It’s that simple. No complicated set up, no need for additional adaptors,” explained Neta Lempert, VP Digital Business Development at Kramer Electronics.
Kramer’s VIA Collage – one to consider.
VIA Collage allows up to six user screens to be shown on a single main display and up to 12 on two displays. Users can also view the main display on their device. With any laptop, tablet or smartphone, users can view, edit and comment on documents simultaneously, share files instantly and chat with other meeting participants. VIA Collage uses proprietary technology to stream full-resolution uninterrupted HD video to the main display.
VIA Collage also supports third-party conferencing and office apps, such as Microsoft Office, Skype, GoToMeeting, Lync and WebEx, allowing users to connect remotely to meetings. The VIA family of wireless presentation and collaboration solutions recently added language support for German and Russian. Future firmware upgrades will include more languages. There remains an a point of difference between Kramer and ourselves about what we think constitutes an intuitive and easy-to-use collaboration technology, but VIA Collage has some novel and useful features. It’s definitely one to consider and we were promised that the next year will see the ease-of-use issue resolved.
