Saville Audio Visual have donated a full digital cinema system to the refurbished Astra Cinema at the award-winning Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington. The projection and audio facilities now include a high powered digital projector, a stereo sound system and a motorised projection screen. The new facility provides the museum with a valuable new asset in attracting meeting and conference bookings to the site.
The original Saville shop opened in 1876 by York pharmacist John Saville, developed through the boom in home photography between the wars and three subsequent generations helped channel the business towards its present day operations in audio visual equipment, digital display systems and conference staging services.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, John Sills said: ”I’ve watched the AV business grow from 16mm film shows to the space-age technology of pocket size projectors and iPads so this is like swapping ‘new lamps for old’! We’re proud to be able to help a brilliant project in our local community which is important to so many people in the UK – and around the world.”
